Nature Store will open for the 2024 Season on April 5, 2024

Located inside the TNWR Administration Building, the Friends of Turnbull Nature Store is open 4 days each week- Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday from 10 am - 4 pm. It is staffed by Friends of Turnbull member volunteers, who are Refuge Ambassadors/Nature Store Sales staff. The Nature Store sells books for adults and children, T-shirts and Sweatshirts, hats, wildlife related jewelry, pins, stickers, mugs, and other items such as greeting cards, postcards, magnets, and toys.

The store uses a Point of Sale (POS) system which is easy to operate, and we are adding barcodes and a scanner this year to make finding the items in the system much easier to locate.  We provide training and promise a fun and interesting experience volunteering in the Nature Store.  We organize 2 3-hour shifts each day and need up to 8 volunteers each weekend!! The Nature Store shift hours are from 10am – 1pm and 1pm – 4pm.
To sign up for Volunteer Training, email naturestore@fotnwr.org

Next training days are March 30 - 10:30 – 12:00  or 1:00 – 2:30pm,  and April 6 - 10:30 – 12:00  or 1:00 – 2:30pm.

Store Volunters are trained in operating the POS system in the store for making sales, and in opening and closing the store. We are recruiting volunteers now. For more information please contact our Nature Store Management team. Download an FOTNWR Volunteer Application.

The Nature Store is stocked with t-shirts, sweatshirts, caps, field guides, children's books, Audubon bird toys, environmental-related games, jewelry, magnets, stickers, other educational materials and art objects. The proceeds of the store benefit the Friends of Turnbull for their work to support the mission of the Refuge through education, research, and habitat restoration.

Store visitors can also get general information about the Refuge, check out the Kids Wildlife Viewing Backpacks for your visit to the Refuge, and get brochures and Refuge maps for your visit. You may want to make it your first stop inside the Refuge, watch for the sandwich board which says the "Store is Open".
